Taran Mitchell is an Irish TV and film composer based between the UK and Los Angeles. Having spent three years working with 14th Street Music, a company founded by Lorne Balfe and Hans Zimmer, Taran has accumulated an impressive body of work. His credits include prestigious television series such as Life On Our Planet, Dopesick and The Wheel of Time, as well as blockbuster feature films Gran Turismo and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, where he has contributed additional music. Notably, he recently served as the lead composer for Netflix's Alexander: The Making of a God, a captivating docu-drama chronicling the ascension of the legendary Macedonian general, Alexander The Great.
Taran graduated from University in July 2020 with an official degree in film studies and an unofficial one in music composition, having quickly secured his place as the go-to guy for music composition. He more notably left University with his first major television credit, securing a commission to score a five-part series for the Discovery Channel that became their highest-rated series in 10 years.
A gifted pianist from the age of 5 with the ability to play anything by ear, Taran has evolved into a versatile multi-instrumentalist with the ability to turn his ear to any genre.
